What You’ll Be Doing

As a Development Analyst at Our Client, will be responsible for assisting Development Staff with the day-to-day management duties from acquisition through construction completion and permanent financing placement for the project(s) assigned.

Additionally, your tasks will include, but not be limited to:

  • Compiling detailed financing applications for various state and local funding programs, such as low-income housing tax credits and tax-exempt bonds
  • Assisting with negotiating contract terms and scope with consultants and contractors
  • Assisting with maintaining project timelines, ensuring milestones are met on time and within budget
  • Providing reports related to project status to investments team and other stakeholders
  • Assisting Development Staff in securing the appropriate approvals, certifications, permits, etc., from city and other government agencies, as required
  • Managing project documents including discretionary and non-discretionary approvals, agency releases/declarations/determinations, easements, covenants, etc.
  • Performing due diligence relating to real estate acquisition
  • Reviewing real estate title and entitlement 
  • Supporting development of pro-forma by gathering necessary development fees and costs
  • Working with third parties (lenders, investors, government agencies) to obtain and disseminate due diligence documentation

What You’ll Need to Perform the Role

To be successful in this role, you’ll use your:

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, finance, economics, public administration, community development, planning or a related field
  • Three (3) years of experience in a related industry such as real estate, tax, banking, finance, or public administration
  • Experience performing the following:
    • Researching requirements and developing components of detailed financing applications for various state and local funding programs, such as low-income housing tax credits and tax-exempt bonds
    • Assisting in conducting zoning research
    • Reviewing real estate title and entitlements
    • Securing appropriate approvals, certifications, permits, etc., from local and other government agencies
    • Working with third parties (lenders, investors, government agencies) to obtain and disseminate due diligence documentation
    • Assisting in the preparation of reports related to project status for delivery to investment team and other stakeholders
  • History of assisting in the maintenance of project timelines by tracking and reporting items related to project milestones
  • History of involvement with project teams within related industry
  • Intermediate knowledge and understanding of affordable or multi-family housing or real estate development
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, and Outlook)

You may also have an equivalent combination of education, training, and/or experience from which comparable knowledge, skill, and abilities have been attained.

  • Keen attention to detail with focused adherence to strict deadlines and procedures
  • Sound problem-solving skills with demonstrated ability to exercise sound independent judgment

  • Teamwork mindset and temperament to work effectively with a diverse group of people
  • Effective ability to communication clearly and concisely, both verbally and in writing
  • Genuine desire to work in the real estate development affordable housing industry
  • Personal accountability and enthusiasm for achieving company goals
